Biography:
1972 – Graduated with honors from the Biological faculty, Perm State University. 1972 – A junior researcher, Institute of Natural Sciences, Perm State University. 1975 – A junior researcher. 1986 – A senior researcher. 1988 to present time – chief of the laboratory of alkanotrophic microorganisms, Institute of Ecology and Genetics of Microorganisms, Ural Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences. 1996 – A reader and in 1998 a professor, Chair of Microbiology and Immunology, Perm State University. 1982 – Candidate of Science (Biology). 1998 – Doctor of Science (Biology). 2003 – Corresponding member to the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Scientific interests:
Microbial diversity, systematics and taxonomy, biodegradation, xenobiotics, conservation of viable microbial cultures.

Vice-president, Interregional Russian Microbiological Society. Chairperson, Perm Microbiological Society. Member, International editorial board, Russian Journal of Biomechanics. Member, World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC).

The Medal of the Award “Merits for the Motherland”, 2nd degree, for achievements in modern bacteriology and great contribution to study and conservation of microbial diversity. The First Degree Diploma of the scientific award winner (Perm region) for a series of studies in biology and systematics of alkanotrophic microorganisms. A prize of the RF government in the field of science and technology in 2008 (RF Government decision of 10 March 2009, # 221).
